I just realized that when I’m reading I always assume that the narrator/protagonist is white and I’m actually a little disturbed by this…

this is a problem i’ve been trying to work on, doesn’t help 90% of the books i read explicitly describe the protagonist as white

What do y’all think of Common’s new album Nobody’s Smiling? I like some songs on it, and he definitely still got the passion, but some are also kinda wack. It’s cool that he works with the up and coming rappers to give em a chance, he sounds like an awesome mentor. I’ll definitely give it a few more listens, but for now, I’d say about 7.5/10. Top track is “Rewind That,” has a nice verse about J Dilla.
